Lesson 2.2: European Empires
Topic 2.2 begins by reviewing the development of the Spanish Empire in the Americas (covered in Unit 1) and then introduces students to the French, Dutch and British Empires. Students practice the skill of comparison to identify similarities and differences among the empires. Students then study the New England colonies of the British Empire, analyzing two primary source documents produced by the Puritans.
